    Form and Function

In the spirit of the Arts and Crafts Movement, this table
exposes the joinery and uses it as part of the design. The
table uses a unique method to join the stretchers to the
legs -- the cross lap joint. The two members (leg and
stretcher) have matching notches that fit together like a
puzzle. The structure is strong yet light, both physically and
visually. Together with the overhang of the top, it creates a
form that evokes the feeling of an Asian pagoda.
