I've created two pieces in walnut with Ginkgo biloba leaves. The ginkgo patterns evoke the feel of leaves whirling around in the wind. I have two Ginkgo trees myself. I used leaves from these trees as models for my inlay. I wanted the leaves to have that beautiful yellow color they take on in the Fall and discovered that Cascara wood is a good choice. It has a yellowish color that is not too brash and matches the dark walnut really well.
